COUNTERCULTURE at Luru-Kino, Leipzig

Counterculture Luru-Kino Das Wiegenlied vom Totschlag
Counterculture Luru-Kino Get Carter
Counterculture Luru-Kino Le Mépris
Counterculture Luru-Kino Zabriskie Point

On the occasion of the exhibition "Leben mit Pop!" at Museum der bildenden Künste Leipzig the most beautiful cinema in town dedicates a whole week in October (10. - 17.10.) to the cinema of the 60s and early 70s, to films that revolted with subversive content and in various forms against the mainstream. The film series Counterculture offers the chance to see great movies once again on cinema screen and, as it should be, from 35mm copies - or to finally close never admitted gaps in education: Antonioni's Blow Up and Zabriskie Point, Godard's Le Mépris and Andy Warhol's Dracula are inevitable and will be supplemented by cool killers like Jack Carter, anti-western like Das Wiegenlied vom Totschlag, trash, sex and violence by Jodorowsky and Russ Meyer. Don't miss it! Here's the complete program (PDF).

f/stop - 5. Festival for Photography Leipzig

June 23 - July 01, 2012 at Werkschauhalle, at Halle 14 and at Spinnerei archiv massiv on the site of the Spinnerei, Leipzig

The History of Now
Whether Titos forgotten photographic archive or the reception of Osama Bin Ladens death through the media, whether the conflictual protests during the Arabian Spring in Egypt or the opulent staging of ceremonies of independence in former Asian and North African colonies or the trauma in post-socialist societies – Politics produce images, images produce politics.
On the basis of four exhibitions at the Spinnerei in Leipzig and a diverse support program f/stop explores the medial power of photographic images and strategies of documentation within contemporary art practices.
The catalogue for the festival will be published by Lubok Verlag.

Marcel Hüppauff. Painting, Lubok Laden, Leipzig

7 pm Exhibition opening at Lubok Verlag on the occasion of the second anniversary of Lubok headquarter
Please come around!
The artist Marcel Hüppauff, born in 1972 in Stuttgart and living in Hamburg, represents an expressive art of painting that abstract as well as figurative shapes emerge from. In the diversity of colors and forms in his paintings bizarre and mystic elements can be found. The artist himself refers to a dialogue with the canvas, that guides him intuitively during the creative process. Together with other artists like André Butzer and Jonathan Meese he founded the "Akademie Isotrop" in 1996 in Hamburg. http://www.marcelhueppauff.com/
The exhibition can be seen until July 31 by prior arrangement.
On the occasion of the exhibition we recommend lubok solo 4 with 16 original, black and white linocuts by Marcel Hüppauff.
